Responsibilities
Manage recruiting, hiring, onboarding, retention, and offboarding processes for SOLA Inc. and SOLAx, including ADP and healthcare platforms.
Oversee recruitment activities: job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.
Prepare and manage all US employee and contractor position descriptions and agreements or letters of assignment.
Complete regular background checks for all US employees.
Update, clarify, and improve SOLA’s US employee handbook.
Develop and implement operating policies and training programs for employees, in areas including but not limited to employee conduct, bias reporting, cybersecurity, travel, finance, information tracking, technology use, etc.
Ensure SOLA is compliant with all US labor laws and the laws of the states our remote employees live/work in. Complete all state required registrations and remittance reports including income tax, unemployment insurance, etc.
Serve as a compensation plan thought leader for all SOLA entities. Own the SOLA Inc. and SOLAx recruiting, compensation, and benefits budget.
Administer US benefits and workers’ compensation programs; negotiate plans and renewals. Perform annual open enrollment and notifications.
Oversee the US 401-K program and report status to the President.
Maintain all employment files and records, including contracts, background checks, compensation adjustments, benefits selections, etc.
Collaborate with the Finance Director and Senior Accountant to properly document payroll and ensure benefits, taxes, and other employer withholdings are remitted and reconciled appropriately.
Oversee employee relations, providing guidance and support on workplace issues, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Serve as a staff liaison to the Board of Directors Compensation Committee.
Select, purchase, and maintain SOLA Inc. and SOLAx employee devices. Maintain a technology asset inventory.
Manage and standardize organization-wide productivity platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Dropbox, BoardEffect, etc.).
Identify additional platforms/tools that increase productivity and ease of information sharing; support license procurement.
Conduct technology risk analysis and implement safety best practices.
Own the SOLA Inc. and SOLAx recruitment & technology budgets.
Serve as a partner to the SOLA School Rwanda HR & technology staff.
Collaborate with the SOLA leadership team to identify and implement operational improvements and innovations.
Assist with enterprise-wide risk management efforts, documenting risks and mitigation strategies. Track mitigation strategies for identified risks, working with the organization’s outside counsel.
Review insurance policies and recommend coverage as needed; administer business insurance.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field.
Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
3-6 years of HR and/or operations management experience, preferably in nonprofit or early-stage company settings.
Strong understanding of and experience with HR best practices, operating policy creation, US employment law, and organizational development.
Proficient in Google Suite and MS Office; familiarity with project management tools is a plus.
Prior experience with ADP platform administration.
Comfort in start-up and/or nonprofit environments.
Comfort working with people in a variety of time zones and with multicultural backgrounds.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for fostering an inclusive workplace.
Ability to manage multiple projects with excellent organizational skills.
Passion for education equity and/or females’ education.
Preferred
Masters in business, human resources, or related field.
SHRM or other human resources certificate.
4-8 years of experience or operations management experience.
Experience in the education sector.
Experience with early stage and/or nonprofit environments.
Experience working with colleagues in a variety of time zones and with multicultural backgrounds.
