Responsibilities
Serves as a compensation consultant to management regarding compensation policies, programs and issues. May be a team lead for a practice area or unit within Compensation.
Performs more complex analyses of jobs, wages, salaries and organizational structures to evaluate and ensure internal equity, external competitiveness and legal compliance of the unit's pay practices. Recommends and implements changes to salary ranges, budgets and/or policies. Considers internal and external factors and overall strategic plan.
Designs and recommends variable compensation programs such as bonus plans, incentive compensation and sales compensation to management to meet the needs of the business unit and/or organization. Ensures plans are competitive while within the budgetary constraints and overall compensation strategy of the organization. Administers AMIP plans.
Participates in the annual performance review and merit increase process. Develops program materials and counsels unit management on distribution of dollars based on performance reviews and addresses compensation related concerns. Reviews recommended salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices. Approves and processes adjustments within established level of approval. May support tier two help desk.
Oversees and/or prepares compensation reports, programs and other initiatives and presents findings/recommendations to management.
Reviews existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommends appropriate courses of action.
Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Nine or more years of compensation experience
Experience working with compensation principles, practices and procedures
Experience working with human resources principles, practices and procedures
Experience working with human resources laws and regulations
Experience working with key financial indicators of the unit and organization
Strong analytical skills
Strong presentation and communication skills for presentation of compensation program/practice recommendations to management
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with management and employees on compensation issues
Strong comprehension skills for understanding needs and concerns and developing and applying solutions
Strong personal computer and human resources system skills
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality regarding employee information
Ability to work independently, as part of a team and lead others
Ability and desire to actively pursue learning opportunities in the compensation field
Ability to understand and apply federal, state and local changes and/or new regulations/laws pertaining to human resources
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, industrial relations, liberal arts or related field
Certification in Compensation or Human Resources
