Responsibilities
Develop an understanding of Cisco’s core networking products and the unique, relevant legal challenges specific to those products
Cultivate close working relationships with the sales, engineering, product management, business development, operations, finance, and legal teams bringing our products to market
Partner closely with legal teams supporting both supply chain and sales to negotiate complex commercial agreements with suppliers, partners, and customers
Be knowledgeable on issues related to global privacy, data protection, lawful intercept and data localization/sovereignty
Become a strategic business advisor to the Business Unit, able to make sound legal judgments to guide the Business Unit’s go-to-market strategies
Develop strong understanding of the product portfolio and its specific legal needs
Communicate legal issues in plain-English
Be a phenomenal teammate, willing to pitch in and assist wherever needed
Provide practical guidance to product management and engineering teams on new and existing services, products, and features throughout the entire product lifecycle

Required
Bar admission in any jurisdiction with good standing
Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience (the ideal candidate will have both law firm and in-house experience)
Superior business judgment, advocating for acceptable legal risk to enable business outcomes
Customer and client-centric approach, demonstrating respect and a positive attitude
At ease with complexity and an intellectual curiosity about all aspects of the business
Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills, with the ability to discuss complex issues in a clear and simple manner both in writing and orally
Focused attention to detail and ability to work independently
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and desire to make legal processes more efficient
Wanting to contribute to a team culture passionate about shared success
Proven knowledge of software licensing, intellectual property, and marketing
Experience and familiarity with lawful intercept, data localization and data sovereignty laws
Experience and familiarity with data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, as well as as-a-service offerings
Preferred
External privacy and/or security certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CISSP)
