Responsibilities
Provide daily counsel to human resources and business units on substantive legal areas including recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline and terminations, leave of absence management, and compliance and benefits.
Work closely with internal clients on all aspects of employment law and HR issues to support their legal needs in the Americas, primarily in the USA, but also jurisdictions such as Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.
Manage external counsel in litigation and administrative agency matters.
Advise on employment-related provisions in contracts and acquisitions.
Act as the primary legal point of contact for critical HR initiatives.
Review and revise internal policies and corporate communications.
Join the Americas Employment Law Team in training initiatives.

Required
9 years of employment law experience in a law firm and/or in-house position
Strong experience with employment law and practices in various jurisdictions across the United States and advising on cross-jurisdictional solutions.
Experience with various types of employment-related litigation, arbitration, and administrative matters, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, wage and hour, and multi-plaintiff/class action matters.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills.
Desire to train and coach stakeholders at every opportunity in day-to-day interactions.
Commitment to teamwork and a collaborative work environment, and dedication to working across cultures.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively within a globally geographically distributed team and fast-paced, highly matrixed business environment.
Demonstrated ability to think and decide quickly, and to communicate legal issues and solutions clearly and concisely.
Compliance project management experience and navigating multiple stakeholders’ expectations.
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission in good standing to practice law in at least one state in the United States and eligible to practice as in-house counsel.
Preferred
Exposure to international employment law practices and laws a plus.
Mix of both law firm and in-house experience.
Interest in legal operations and process improvement.
Experience in reviewing employment-related commercial contracts provisions.
