Responsibilities
Position is responsible for handling regulatory administrative functions which support the licensure activities of the board office.
This position assists in conducting daily activities that are required for administration and management of the board office.
Services as chief point-of-contact and subject matter expert for applicants, stakeholders, and BON staff as the resource responsible for providing correct and appropriate information on laws and regulations relating to compliance with the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Maintains current knowledge of NURSYS, NLC, Education, policies, and other states of licensure, etc.
Ensures receipt of declarations of primary state of residence forms and that they are entered into LEIDS and Axiom within one to two business days of receipt.
Ensures that documentation regarding any 'disqualifying events' reported under the NLC which may affect license (compact) status are properly recorded, tracked, or updated in applicable license records.
Expires- compact Florida licenses when notification is received of a current compact license in another compact state within two business days of receipt.
Research licensure records and records pertinent information into LEIDS when information not on NURSYS within two business days of discovery.
Processes, runs, and evaluates data from the Multiple Compact (Duplicate) Licenses Report as well as the Multi-State/Single State Licenses report to determine appropriate license status change(s) on NURSYS in a timely manner, at least weekly.
Provides weekly reports to management regarding status of Multiple Compact (Duplicate) Licenses report and Multi-State/Single State Licenses report.
Communicate with other state boards of nursing verbally and in writing in a timely and professional manner.
Drafts pertinent NLC instructions, procedures, correspondence, etc. and keeps BON informed of pertinent information or revisions to states participation in the NLC.
Collaborates with other BON staff as requested in licensing determinations that may require complex interpretation related to NLC.
Ensures that managers are kept informed of any critical issues pertaining to processing and entering applications, discipline cases, etc. with NLC impact.
Participates in NLC OPS network conference calls and provides updates to the supervisor and staff.
Completes the following licensure review tasks: Collaborates with BON regulatory specialists or other BON staff for license application record reviews to ensure compliance with NLC rules and regulations.
Determines and provides technical assistance to BON regulatory specialists regarding eligibility for issuing 'single-state' or 'multi-state' licenses in accordance with (nursing) and NLC laws and regulations.
Provides periodic oral/written communication to BON regulatory specialists based on review of license applications/licenses regarding NLC compliance/non-compliance issues.
Checks license data on NURSYS for to ensure accuracy of uploaded data.
Requests additional reports from IT or develops spreadsheets using LEIDS reports, as necessary.
Ensures that managers are kept informed of any critical issues pertaining to NLC compliance/non-compliance.
Provides efficiency suggestions for all licensure processes as identified or needed.
Participates in work groups as assigned.
Assists with the processing of multistate licensure upgrade applications.
Assists with the expiration of multistate applications more than one year old.

Required
Ability to compile, organize and analyze complex data.
Ability to investigate, analyze and resolve complex complaints.
Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals.
Ability to provide consultative assistance to team members and professionals.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work processing team and Regulatory Specialist II activities.
Ability to maintain effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to establish and maintain dependable, effective working relationships with others.
Ability to maintain pre-approved work schedule with minimal interruptions to workflow.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Experience with LEIDS, Axiom Pro
High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years administrative experience to include computer software, data entry, travel arrangement preparation, document preparation, personnel, and budget review.
Preferred
College education can substitute for the required experience on a year for-year basis.
