Responsibilities

Handles a variety of calls, e-mails, and walk-ins, schedules appointments, and resolves scheduling conflicts.
Notifies clients of changes/cancellations and prioritizes urgency of appointments for rescheduling.
Assures crisis situations are appropriately forwarded to the counselor on-call or designee.
Provides administrative support to the Counseling Center office.
Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required

Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working effectively within a complex organization.
Experience working with and appropriately administering sensitive information and records.
Experience with general office equipment and functions, including multi-line phone system and appointment software.
Ability to manage a range of administrative responsibilities.
Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Strong organizational and task prioritization skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Sensitivity & commitment to the needs of students experiencing mental health concerns.
Ability to maintain and manage confidential information and situations.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and independent judgement and work effectively without continuous supervision or oversight.
Demonstrates respect, professionalism, and consideration when dealing with students and staff.
Ability to recognize callers in distress and refer to appropriate supports.
Ability to work effectively in a busy student environment and while maintaining focus on the positive impact that counseling services have on the lives of students.
Ability to understand and relate well to students and others of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred

Experience working in a medical or counseling office setting.
Experience using EMR to schedule appointments.
Experience working with HIPAA -protected information.
