Responsibilities
Making continuous geologic inspections during drilling operations performed by contract forces.
Ensuring samples are obtained per the Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP), the Field Sampling Plan (FSP) and Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP).
Measuring and recording depth of water table and presence of contaminants (either by physical appearance, odor detection or special detection equipment).
Assisting other geologists or performing surface reconnaissance, including the identification of various types of soil and rock, land forms, geological processes, etc., for use in the preparation of maps.
Performing shallow geophysical explorations.

Required
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.
One year of specialized experience which includes performing geologic/geophysical explorations and investigations to be applied for various environmental projects; using knowledge of advanced geophysical classification to analyze and review data; determining contamination nature and extent in soil, groundwater, and soil gas vapor; and managing collected data to process and present findings.
Must obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
This position requires the physical ability to lift or move heavy objects.
This position requires certification to handle hazardous and toxic wastes.
This position requires routine and special medical examinations requirement because of potential exposure and the significant physical stress factors that occur while wearing protective equipment.
This position requires the candidate to know, comply with, and promote prescribed safety rules and regulations.
This position requires working outside the office involving exposure to the elements, with weather varying from extreme heat to extreme cold.
