Responsibilities
Create user requirements and engineering specifications in relation to sample collection, sample transport, and sample loading into biophotonic sensors. (7%)
Create engineering specifications for devices to collect, transport and load micro-RNA and other biological samples into biophotonic sensors. (8%)
Complete computer aided engineering designs and present design reviews of fiber-optic biophotonic sensor designs based on user requirements and engineering specifications. (10%)
Operate additive micro-manufacturing instrumentation and oversee the fabrication of micro- and nano-sized 3D printed parts on optical fiber components. (5%)
Plan, complete and document experiments and collect data to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of fabricated biophotonic sensors to various micro-RNA sub-types, proteins, hormones and related bio-molecular species. (3%)
Create user requirements and engineering specifications for skin and tissue imaging systems. (7%)
Create mechanical specifications for skin and tissue imagers, their portability, and positioning to subjects being imaged. (10%)
Complete computer aided engineering designs of optical imaging systems including optical design of illumination and tissue imaging systems. (10%)
Plan, complete and document experiments and collect images to evaluate imaging and illumination systems to map the scattering and absorption profiles of tissue phantoms, in-vivo animal tissues, and human subjects. (3%)
Prepare and submit IRB protocols for studies involving imaging of human subjects. (4%)
Create user requirements and engineering specifications for multifunctional catheters that perform both diagnostics and surgery. (8%)
Create engineering mechanical specifications for a laser cutting catheter. (8%)
Operate micro- and nano-additive manufacturing instrumentation and oversee the fabrication of 3D printed parts for laser cutting catheter (4%)
Complete computer aided engineering designs of fiber-optic systems including optical design of the fiber array and tissue extraction systems. (8%)
Complete and document experiments testing the laser cutting catheter and tissue extraction system in phantoms, ex vivo tissues and in vivo animal models. (2%)
Prepare and submit IACUC protocols for studies involving imaging and surgical resection of animal subjects. (3%)
