Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive care based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit in Cardiac Electrophysiology, Rhythm Management.
Provision of care is given as described in the HonorHealth Patient Care Policies and service or unit-specific Department Operating Policies.
Support for Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) management will be done under the direction of a Device RN Manager or Provider & the Practice Manager.
Demonstrates competency necessary to perform remote monitoring and in office evaluation of CIEDs including wearable devices.
Must possess skills in interpretation of ECG, measured data, arrhythmia burden, diagnostics, Intracardiac Electrograms (IEGM), and heart failure diagnostics.
Effectively communicate with the EP provider regarding patient's condition, device abnormalities, and arrhythmias detected.
Perform post-operative wound evaluations, device evaluation and patient education, and having the judgment to direct to the EP Providers, when appropriate.
Is knowledgeable of peri-operative and MRI CIED management.
Be knowledgeable of current advisories/recalls and the recommended procedures/follow up for each.
Will be responsible for managing patient's data in manufacturer remote monitoring websites, analysis and management of transmission, entering in the electronic medical record (EMR), maintain the data integrity with the system.
Serves as a resource to other departments, and the supervisor.
Perform device in office evaluations, pacing and sensing thresholds, analysis, interpretation of IEGM’s, troubleshooting, and programming of manufacturers’ CIEDs (Abbott (formally St. Jude medical), Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Sorin, and Biotronik) by using specific manufacturers’ proprietary programmers, according to protocol and good clinical practice.
Responsible for remote monitoring alerts daily, and using protocols and good clinical judgement, determines proper notification and follow-up based on established criteria.
Process and document remote transmissions according to protocol.
Ensure schedule follow up is appropriate.
Report abnormalities to EP provider in a timely manner.
Notify patients of abnormal results and secure appropriate follow up.
Reports to Device Lead Technician, when the interpretation is out of the scope of expertise.
Knowledgeable in CIED function, inclusive to St. Jude, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Sorin, and Biotronik.
Reports to Device Nurse Manager, or the EP Provider when the interpretation is out of the scope of expertise.
Triage patient calls relating to device questions/problems.
Communicate with EP provider.
Submit appropriate billing codes for device evaluations.
Communicate advisory information to patients including necessary follow-up, alerts under the advice of the EP physician.
Travel to satellite clinics is required.

Required
High School Diploma or GED
1 year Cardiac device management in-office evaluations and remote monitoring.
1 year experience with CIED industry or outpatient device clinic experience
12 Lead EKG Class
Basic Life Support (BLS) Current and valid certification
