Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with and under the supervision of a senior analyst, planner, or project manager.

Liaise with professionals on technical aspects of project and program development.

Assist in the preparation of various plans including hazard vulnerability assessments by applying spatial analysis techniques to identify communities at risk.

Tasks include spatial data research and collection, including hazard datasets such as flooding, wildfires, earthquakes and other natural disasters, data development and maintenance, map development, and technical writing.

Assist with production needs for internal and client deliverables.

Assist with StoryMap and Dashboard development and other interactive online deliverables.

Provide administrative support as needed.

Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.

Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

Additional duties as required.

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Planning or related field.

The selected candidate will have three (3) plus years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with project-related GIS experience and degree in a related subject (geography, geomatics).

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated understanding of GIS tools and concepts, and basic project management concepts including client management and performing to the project scope and timeline under the guidance of the project manager.

Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, StoryMaps, ArcMap, Survey123 Connect, and web map creation.

Must be able to work independently, take direction and pro-actively manage time and resources to maintain project schedules.

Dedicated to producing high-quality cartographic and tabular deliverables to project managers and clients.

Ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects, client requests and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Strong team player displaying enthusiasm and a true commitment to personal and team growth and development.

Brings a solution-oriented mindset to the team and displays a willingness to expand foundational knowledge.

Flexibility and the ability to adapt to ever-changing situations in sometimes a fast-paced work environment.

Must be proficient at collecting and analyzing scientific, environmental, economic and hazard data.

Excellent constructive communicator, both written and verbal.

Proficient using MS Office software including Word and Excel.

Knowledgeable in coordinate systems and projections.

Highly motivated, client focused and works well in a team environment.

Strong work ethic.

Travel when necessary.

Preferred

Working knowledge of FEMA Hazus program (flood, wind, and seismic models). This is a plus requirement.
