Responsibilities
Staff, engage, and develop a high-level performing team that manages a group of Regional Trustees to grow their personal philanthropic giving to BGCA, as well as that of their networks, all while developing them for future volunteer leadership at BGCA.
Work with senior BGCA leadership, as well as Regional Trustees, to identify new potential prospects, as well as potential new Trustees, that are mission focused, influential, and have the capacity and interest in making personal gifts to BGCA.
Build Trustee Boards that are diverse in industry, geography within regions, gender and race, and ensure their ongoing stewardship and cultivation.
Oversee the Regional Development Team, ensuring that recruiting strategies, Trustee meetings, cultivation and stewardship plans, and overall engagement are aligned to BGCA’s strategic priorities, and that Trustees are active and engaged.
Work with additional departments within Resource Development (e.g., Corporate Giving) to ensure all opportunities presented by current, or prospective Trustees, are leveraged across multiple giving channels.
Create, lead, and manage annual Regional Development goals, as well as the development of strategic plans, in collaboration and coordination with the CDERO, as well as additional departments within External Relations.
Personally identify and manage a portfolio of $1M+ current, or prospective, donors across the United States and lead a team that raises $15M or more annually.
Lead Individual Giving fundraising efforts, focused on creating and implementing a strategy to significantly increase donations from individuals, as well as future year renewals and increasing in giving.
Develop, and execute, a comprehensive Major Gifts program, that ensures the ongoing identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of existing, and prospective, donors to ensure long-term financial stability and success.
Work with the Individual Giving team to strengthen the Major Gifts pipeline of prospective individual donors; collaborate with other departments within Resource Development to identify potential overlap between funders, as well as their networks, to develop comprehensive solicitation plans.
Create, lead, and manage annual Individual Giving goals, as well as the development of strategic plans, in collaboration and coordination with the CDERO, as well as additional departments within External Relations.
Adhere to existing operational policies and procedures relating to BGCA’s Donor Moves Management process and ensure the accurate reporting and recording of information.
Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop a successful high functioning team of Regional Giving and Individual Giving fundraisers, in accordance with BGCA’s policies and procedures, ensuring the overall smooth functioning of the staff.
Plan and manage the departmental expense budget and ensure senior leadership is aware of, and understands, variances against projections, and the strategic reasoning for specific investments.
Serve as a key member of the External Relations Department leadership and ensure effective coordination and communication within the department, across the organization, and with the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement.
Conduct and/or participate in state, regional, Corporate and Cause Partnerships, to ensure all relationships are managed and leveraged effectively for BGCA.
Work closely with the National Vice President, Corporate and Cause Partnerships, to ensure all relationships are managed, and leveraged effectively for BGCA.
Research, identify, and investigate new opportunities for funding from a wide variety of philanthropic and individual sources to expand and diversify the donor base and lead to overall BGCA fundraising success.
Assist the CDERO as requested and/or lead special projects or national assignments as required by CDERO.
Participate and assist in the development of best practices, policy determination and management decisions of the overall national Resource Development operations.

Required
A Bachelor's degree is required.
Minimum of ten years of successful front-line major gifts fundraising experience, including Board fundraising engagement.
Impressive track record with major gift solicitations of $100,000 and above, managing a portfolio of 100-200 relationships with annual goal achievement and year-over-year revenue growth.
Demonstrated success in expanding/diversifying donor base and revenue, achieving high level fundraising goals, managing high level boards and managing significant fundraising events.
10+ years’ experience leading and developing a large team.
Demonstrated successful experience in leading, supervising and developing staff.
Experience working collaboratively as part of a nationally deployed team in a federated structure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and a Blackbaud database environment.
Ability to engage busy CEOs and their assistants with high responsiveness and persistence.
Creativity and grit to stay the course with individuals donating their time, talents, and resources.
Preferred
MBA and CFRE preferred.
