Responsibilities

Assigns work to subordinates based upon priorities, difficulty of assignments, and capabilities of employees.
Develops performance standards and rates employees.
Interviews candidates for subordinate positions, recommends hiring, promotion, or reassignments.
Identifies developmental and training needs of employees and provides and/or arranges for needed development and training.
Establishes program goals and evaluates results to document program accomplishments.
Consults with research elements within the organization, agency, academic, community, and/or private industry to develop research project opportunities that support the organization's mission objectives.
Develops strategies to meet short, medium, and long-range goals for the HOME EPI research program.
Serves as primary resource for oversight, reporting and measurement to improve operational effectiveness.
Designs, implements, manages reporting on complex epidemiologic studies.
Determines which study design is the most advantageous methodology for research questions under consideration.
Coordinates the accomplishment of the scientific (merit) review and evaluation of research programs to provide recommendations or decisions for program strategies, modifications, budgeting, or improvements.
Screens and assesses potential participants for epidemiologic studies and projects with complex criteria.
Conducts program assessments and prepares reports for program continuity and reporting.
Manages health science programs of major public health importance or policy emphasis.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the HOME EPI health science research program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience participating in scientific studies and surveys as well as conducting statistical analysis in an epidemiological research setting
A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of a Supervisory Health Science Specialist - Epidemiologist
At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 13) in the Federal Service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Health Science Specialist - Epidemiologist
Qualifying specialized experience includes leading or supervising subordinates' work, managing performance, reviewing training needs, etc., and planning, developing, analyzing, and overseeing epidemiologic investigations of the long-term effects on a population from occupational and environmental exposures
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week
All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates
Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social)
