Responsibilities
You're excited to serve as Patent Classifier responsible for resolving issues with the technology centers regarding questionable classification determinations.
You have developed the expertise to conduct quality assurance reviews of initial classification on assigned unpublished patents by reviewing and monitoring classification work performed by contractor(s), other USPTO personnel, and/or Artificial Intelligence.
You're looking forward to serve as a project manager to perform a variety of classification projects and/or assignments to support the Classification Quality and International Coordination's mission.
You have the ability to assist in the development and long-term maintenance of USPTO and international search systems and tools (e.g., International and Collaborative Environment).

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service.
You must require a year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 that demonstrates thorough knowledge of the functions, processes, and practices associated with U.S. patents and the patent examining process.
Ability to perform patent work assignments in the area(s) of technology of the position to be filled.
Originality and creativity in solving technical problems.
You must possess thorough knowledge of patent classification principles, procedures, and practices.
Specialized experience for this position includes: serving as a senior subject matter expert in patent classification matters providing information, guidance, and assistance to patent office professionals, and the public with regard to patent classification.
