Responsibilities
Foster a culture that encourages team members to work safely, identify potential hazards, and report safety concerns or incidents to management.
Understand and adhere to the National EMR Policies and Procedures Manual, Uniform Handbook, and Operations Manual.
Know and recognize the signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and sexually provocative behavior when observing colleagues and clients and implement professional response, reporting, and documenting procedures.
Maintain active status within the agency’s web-based learning management system to complete trainings that may be directed toward self-improvement, mission-specifics, or Just-In-time (JIT).
Maintain and produce (when needed) all required professional certifications, licensures, memberships, military discharge, and/or Honorable Discharge upon request.
Maintain ability to pass a clear NCIC, CAN background check to be eligible for specific deployments, if/when required.
Collect, enter, and ensure documentation for medical staff at designated site(s), to ensure all required duties meet or exceed program guidelines and best practices established by local, State, and Federal partners.
Maintain confidentiality of health care records and information in keeping with HIPAA, Protected Health Information (PHI) requirements and National EMR confidentiality protocol and procedures and sign confidentiality statement.
Perform and supervise, on occasion, medical staff to perform clinic duties as directed by chain of command.
At designated site(s), direct, and train medical staff, and coordinate services, following all local, state, federal, and regulatory/agency established policies, procedures and guidelines.
Monitor established health care plans for service population at the site(s) within the timeframe established by our local, State and Federal partners.
Assist with process improvement in reviewing, writing and updating medical protocols and procedures in collaboration with supervisor.
Participate in, assist, or supervise an incident management workforce that will conduct disaster preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives as needed.
Be receptive and flexible to serve in a position when responding to critical circumstances which may have obstacles and/or challenges that need to be overcome.
Be able to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short-term performance goals.
Support survivors and communities during disasters by being readily available to assist at a moment’s notice.
Maintain personal readiness to deploy within 6-12 hours of activation.
Update upcoming availability within the National EMR’s mobile application monthly to respond when needed.
Maintain "active" status by utilizing National EMR’s mobile application and checking in weekly on your National EMR email to review ongoing announcements for situational awareness.
Work 12+ hour shifts consecutively for extended periods of time in austere conditions.
Direct and train staff in accordance with local, state, federal, programmatic, and regulatory established policies, and procedures in meeting response requirements.
Exercise emotional intelligence in the workplace and with those we serve to establish trust and reassurance when communicating effectively and constructively.
Be a self-starter, professional, highly motivated, resourceful, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Other duties as assigned.

Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Registered Current Paramedic license in state of residence required
Minimum of one (1) year experience required
ICS 100 – Introduction to Incident Command Systems
ICS 200 – ICS for single resources and Initial Action Incidents
ICS 700 – National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) and Introduction
ICS 800 – National Response Framework, An Introduction
ICS 300 – Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents (must be completed upon hire)
ICS 400 – Advanced ICS Command and General Staff – Complex Incidents (must be completed upon hire) *Required to be completed within 3 months of hire or will be terminated due to noncompliance.
Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position
Adhere to acceptable standards of professional integrity and accountability in the workplace, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations in all duties
Provide proof of valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing with no restrictions (subject to review annually)
Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics
Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, professionals, and clients
Maintain professional people skills and non-verbal communication skills
Communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, in English
Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and professional composure and making decisions based on the needs of the program and service population
Maintain intermediate to advanced computer literacy (specifically Microsoft Suite)
Be detail oriented and organized
Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Perform physical activity such as extensive walking, stretching, and bending, and occasionally lifting up to and/or exceeding 50 lbs
Work extended hours and/or non-traditional hours (Ex. Evenings, weekends, holidays, in austere conditions)
Travel for extended periods of time
Utilize a variety of communications systems to provide situational awareness across the response (cellular, two-way radio, satellite, etc.)
Accept alternate sleeping arrangements (i.e., cots, sleeper buses, bunks, etc...) when hotel accommodation is not available in disaster areas
Must successfully pass a scheduled or spontaneous drug screening
Preferred
Current Paramedic license in the state of Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and/or North Carolina
Current NREMT
Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
