Responsibilities

Lead the most complex and challenging technical problems for the team

Drive the adoption of modern monitoring, telemetry and observability systems across the product portfolio

Develop production readiness standards for the product to ensure product reliability

Raise the technical bar of the team and increase velocity of technical decision making

Collaborate with product management to define and execute on the technical roadmap

Mentor and grow the next generation of technical leaders at DDN

Drive adoption of best practices in system design, testing, and operational excellence

Ensure high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation

Build a culture of operational excellence by sharing on-call responsibilities and leading incident responses as needed.

Required

Deep experience in designing, building, and operating large scale distributed systems

Demonstrated track record designing and delivering monitoring systems at scale

Experience building production readiness standards and checklists, ensuring systems are highly available and meet reliability and resiliency targets.

Strong understanding of modern software development practices and technologies (Go, Python, C++)

Hands on data systems design experience

Advanced understanding of Linux systems, networking, and automation

5+ years as a principal engineer, leading technical teams of 15+ engineers

Track record of mentoring and building technical capabilities

Proven ability to lead geographically distributed technical teams

Ability to communicate complex technical problems to stakeholders of varying technical background

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision making
