Responsibilities

Supports the agency's Workers’ Compensation program, participates in studies of management and administrative processes and systems and recommends solutions to procedural problems.
Processes injury and illness claims for priority ranking and further action.
Enters OWCP claims information into automated data systems and spreadsheets.
Research data and develops reports while maintaining contact with and providing customer.
Participates in the development of web-based and tactile educational tools and resources, and assists with both on-site, teleconference, and virtual training employees, supervisors, and managers.
Research and compiles background information, statistical data and other information, prepares charts, graphs, and other narrative information for management or program analysis.
Prepares memoranda, reports, and other information products related to monthly metrics and quarterly OWCP updates.
Reviews and distributes incoming OWCP correspondence based on subject matter and content of documentation and materials.
Reviews OWCP case status details and makes preliminary determinations and/or recommendations of whether OWCP case development necessitates.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required

You must be a US Citizen or US National.
Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
Direct Deposit: Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
All USDA employees are required to be enrolled in Continuous Vetting.
Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors.
Developing and providing presentations of pertinent laws, policies, regulations, and precedents applicable to Federal government Workers' Compensation and Drug-Free Workplace programs.
Planning, scheduling, and conducting projects, in order to evaluate program/process activities, concisely demonstrate findings, and recommend potential solutions to identified program/process concerns.
Identifying long-term claims with return-to-work potential, developing job offers and working with both internal staff and outside entities to achieve a successful return-to-work effort.
Researching specific program guidance and providing concise and authoritative interpretation to outside persons or groups.
Coordinating and affecting a Post-Accident HHS Drug-Testing outside of normal business hours.
Two full years of graduate level education (36 semester hours, 54 quarter hours or equivalent) OR a Masters degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field of study directly related to the work of this position.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
Transcripts are required if you are qualifying for the position based on education or a combination of experience and education.
