Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Association, including Marketing & Communications, Field Relations, Walks, and Development;
Oversee coordination of volunteer efforts and programs;
Play active roles in the planning and carrying out of major special events, the Clinical Care Meeting, World Congress, Teal on the Hill, and any regional or other conferences and workshops;
Monitor internal operating budgets, income, and expenditures in accordance with Association policies and procedures and in cooperation with business operations;
Participate, as appropriate, in the hiring and evaluation of staff;
Assist the CEO in carrying out her or his responsibilities and duties;
Work closely with the Association Board and its committees, and the Professional Advisory Committee, as assigned by the CEO;
Serve, at the request of the CEO, as a spokesperson for the Association and Spina Bifida; and,
Other duties as requested or assigned by the CEO.

Required
At least 10 years direct experience with a national voluntary health agency or similar organization
Significant successful management experience with one or more national voluntary health agencies
Significant experience in fundraising, including fundraising program development and evaluation
Demonstrated progressive responsibility and leadership throughout the candidate’s career
Bachelor’s degree minimum
Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, those with disabilities, and their families in an effective and sensitive manner
Demonstrated experience in budgeting and fiscal operations, program development and implementation, evaluation of programs and personnel, planning, and other operational areas
Experience with organizations having Chapter structures
Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and assignments, as necessary or desired, and ensure follow through
Excellent written and oral communication skills; familiarity with technology, websites, and office software
Demonstrated ability to effectively relate to a wide variety of people, including a strong commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop and implement plans with other staff and volunteers, and monitor progress towards goals and objectives
Preferred
Advanced degree in an appropriate field preferred
