Responsibilities
Assist in processing multi-state and global payroll on a semi-monthly and monthly frequency.
Address inquiries from employees, third-party administrators, other departments, and agencies concerning payroll, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Own payroll month-end close activities, including preparation and review of payroll journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Process and confirm personnel transactions such as new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, employee benefit deductions, withholding tax, garnishments, one-time payments, and other payroll-related transactions in the payroll system.
Submit payroll changes to the international payroll provider, reviewing and approving global payroll for final processing.
Handle payroll-related benefits administration including Worker’s Compensation, 401K, Section 125, and other voluntary employee benefits.
Provide payroll funding breakdown for invoices submitted for EOR payroll (Employer of Record) to accounts payable.
Oversee all federal, state, and local payroll filing and compliance requirements.
Research, understand, and implement new rules and tax regulations pertaining to payroll and equity programs to meet statutory reporting and compliance requirements, including local tax registrations and compliance with payroll taxes.
Establish strong relationships with third-party processing providers for all non-US payroll, ensuring compliance with country and local requirements.
Manage, implement, document, and improve internal controls and best practices associated with payroll processes.
Assist with annual financial audits.
Drive and participate in ad-hoc business projects as necessary.

Required
4+ years of full-cycle payroll experience.
Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory payroll processes and internal controls.
Understanding of month-end close, financial statements, and audit concepts.
Familiarity with accounting concepts related to payroll processing and recording in the General Ledger.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in an agile, often ambiguous, environment under pressure.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; experienced in multitasking and prioritizing to meet deadlines.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues and recommendations to management and external contacts.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Proactive in seeking out potential issues and driving best practices.
Experience using accounting systems: Netsuite, payroll systems (ADP and BambooHR preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite Applications.
Advanced Excel skills (v-Lookup, pivot tables, etc.).
Preferred
Experience in a fast-paced Software as a Service (SaaS) environment is a plus.
Experience with equity-based compensation administration is a plus.
