Responsibilities

Design and implement secure architecture and engineering solutions to enhance the University’s cybersecurity posture.

Lead the development and application of security frameworks for the university's networks, on-premises systems, cloud environments, and SaaS integrations.

Ensure compliance with NYU’s information security program, policies, and standards.

Incorporate security best practices into existing and emerging technologies.

Align security initiatives with institutional goals and mitigate risks to the University’s global digital ecosystem.

Lead a team focused on improving cybersecurity resilience through design and engineering practices.

Adhere to industry best practices and maintain a proactive approach to evolving cyber threats.

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Information Security, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

7+ years experience in Information Security or a related field, with strong knowledge of security technologies, practices, and standards or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

3+ years experience in cybersecurity operations and architecture.

Familiarity with cybersecurity standards like NIST 800-181, NIST 800-53, and ISO 27001.

Demonstrates proficiency in security technologies and standards.

Expertise in areas such as Identity and Access Management, Cloud Security, Network Security, and Data Protection.

Expertise in Identity and Access Management, Cloud Security, Endpoint Security, Data Protection, Network Security, or Application Security is required.

Demonstrate leadership, verbal and written communication, and team-building skills and a track record of developing others through coaching, mentoring, and training.

The ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, solve complex problems, and manage conflicts effectively is essential.

Preferred

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent.

5+ years experience providing cybersecurity architecture and engineering for large organizations across the globe.

Demonstrated background of cybersecurity operations or engineering fields.

Demonstrated experience leading technical professionals through complex implementations of cybersecurity frameworks.

Deep focus on advanced cybersecurity technologies and security practices at scale.

A background in academic and research environments, merger and acquisition integration, and experience managing complex regulatory landscapes would be considered valuable assets.
