Responsibilities
Work closely with engineering managers, supervisors, and design engineers to implement tailored and focused systems engineering best practices and processes for assigned product(s) that reduce design risk and complexity.
Develop and maintain MBSE models, as required, to support requirements engineering, functional modeling, and interface management.
As Change Leader for assigned products, lead the enterprise-level evaluation of Engineering Change Requests to ensure that all impacts are identified, understood, and documented prior to decisions.
Train and mentor less-experienced Systems Engineering staff.
Act as an ambassador for the Systems Engineering team to communicate with and educate other departments on Systems Engineering concepts and department initiatives.
Produce Systems Engineering deliverables in accordance with company procedures and standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required
A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.
A minimum of 8 years of directly-related, full-time engineering experience is required.
Must have demonstrated experience in either model-based systems engineering OR configuration management utilizing PLM or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, tools, techniques such as: Requirements engineering (e.g., elicitation, derivation, allocation, traceability, etc.), Configuration management (e.g., familiarity with CM2, EIA-649), Verification and validation (e.g., familiarity with IEEE 1012), Trade studies, Design/gate reviews.
Strong technical writing, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to be proactive and work with minimal direction once tasks are assigned and understood.
Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities.
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Preferred
Coursework in Systems Engineering is strongly preferred.
INCOSE Systems Engineer certification preferred.
CM2-C Certification preferred.
Model-based Systems Engineering (Sparx Enterprise Architect preferred or SysML preferred).
Product Life-cycle management software (Aras innovator preferred).
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 preferred.
