Responsibilities
Provide network engineering services to the statewide enterprise network and all State agencies.
Act as a subject matter expert providing design, implementation, and support of highly complex networks including LAN/WAN, SDWAN, SD-Access, Wireless, data center, cloud technologies.
Act as the technical lead for the planning, testing, administrating, and implementing network solutions and establishing best practices standards.
Make decisions and provide detailed input that affects the State core network and agencies network infrastructure.
Perform network architecture design and implementation which impact all supported agencies and their locations across Colorado.
Establish network technology standards to be used within the State network infrastructure.
Interface with the network operations, security operations, and telecommunications teams to provide network services to customers.
Support the strategic interface to other entities including state, federal, and local agencies; private sector groups; and the public.
Designing, configuring, administering, and deploying mission critical network hardware and applications to provide network as a services (NaaS) for State agencies to include wireless, software defined access and wide area networks.
Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems, addressing security concerns, responding to and resolving outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with internal and external partners on network optimization.
Providing subject matter expertise on network design, solution, and implementation for new network projects.
Analyzing performance and comparative costs of products to determine the most cost effective solution.
Providing recommendations and solutions to leadership.
Partnering with customers and vendors to clarify rationale for technical decisions and concepts so they can understand the basis for the decisions.

Required
A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on professional experience in network operations and support.
A minimum of three (3) years configuring routing and switching for local campus and wide area networks.
A minimum of three (3) years configuring, deploying, or managing wireless infrastructure.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in leading and planning network projects.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience with Cisco DNAC/Cisco Catalyst Center Network Management.
Experience managing Network monitoring applications.
Experience with developing network topologies and diagrams.
Experience with creating technical project documentation, method of procedures, and technical reference guides.
Preferred
Three (3) years professional experience in network design, architecture, and implementation.
Cisco Professional and/or Expert certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internet Expert (CCIE).
Professional networking experience with wireless technologies.
Professional networking experience with Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) application.
Professional networking experience with Cisco DNAC.
Professional networking experience with data center technologies.
Professional networking experience with Software-Defined Access technologies.
Professional networking experience with Software-Defined WAN (SDWAN).
Professional networking experience with scripting and automation.
Understanding Agile/Scrum Methodologies or having Agile/Scrum Methodologies certification(s).
