Responsibilities
Find patterns and trends in datasets to uncover insights
Create algorithms and data models to forecast outcomes
Use machine learning techniques to improve the quality of data or product offerings
Communicate recommendations to other teams and senior staff
Deploy data tools such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL in data analysis
Stay on top of innovations in the data science field
Advise the team on the use Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and other advanced data utilization and exploitation techniques

Required
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.
Or courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours), plus additional education or appropriate experience.
Demonstrated experience with the following: Data analytical process and limitations, Custom data analytics application development, Requirements building, Rapid prototype development, Python coding or tailoring of existing codes.
General professionalism including: Ability to remain productive and connected when working remotely, Demonstrating professionalism in oral and written communications, Disciplined documentation of work performed, General competency with standard office application, Eagerness to grow and accept new challenges.
Preferred
Technical expertise with the following: Python, R, or other commonly used languages for data processing and exploitation, Business intelligence software (eg. Power BI, Tableau).
Familiarity and willingness to master: Python script development, Connecting to and pulling data (aka ETL) from external sources via APIs, Training content development methodologies.
Familiarity with Agency recovery missions, FEMA’s GIS activities or other disaster related applications of data.
Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and predictive analytics.
Experience working with geospatial information and interactive mapping technology.
Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle, Agile development or other contemporary approaches used for developing software.
Awareness of and familiarity with Open-Source tools and data.
