Responsibilities

Develop detailed electrical drawings for PV systems, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, grounding, and interconnection schematics.
Design AC and DC system components, including conductor sizing, circuit protection, inverters, and transformers.
Perform electrical calculations for system voltage drop, current carrying capacity, and thermal performance.
Create and revise CAD drawings for system layouts, including site plans, module arrangements, and trenching details.
Ensure all drawings adhere to project specifications, local regulations, and industry standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical and civil components into the design.
Perform energy production modeling using software tools such as PVsyst or HelioScope.
Optimize PV system designs for maximum efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Support electrical interconnection studies and coordination with utilities.
Prepare and review engineering deliverables, including bill of materials (BOM), specifications, and construction documentation.
Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, and other applicable codes and standards.
Coordinate with permitting authorities to obtain necessary approvals.
Provide technical assistance during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of PV systems.
Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and change orders related to electrical design.
Conduct site visits as needed to support field teams and verify system installations.
Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure designs meet budgetary and schedule requirements.
Participate in design reviews and value engineering sessions to improve project outcomes.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in solar PV system design, preferably for commercial or utility-scale projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD tools (e.g., Civil 3D, Revit).
Strong understanding of PV system components, electrical codes (NEC, IEC), and permitting processes.
Familiarity with PV modeling software such as PVsyst, HelioScope, or SAM.
Knowledge of utility interconnection processes and renewable energy standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Electrical Engineering Degree (Required)
Photovoltaic systems: 4 years (Required)
AutoCAD: 5 years (Required)
PVSyst: 5 years (Required)
Utility Solar: 4 years (Required)

Preferred

EIT or PE licensure is a plus.
Bachelor's (Preferred)
