Responsibilities
Develop GIS Strategy: Create a comprehensive GIS vision aligned with the organization's goals, focusing on how GIS technology can optimize field team operations.
Set Goals and Metrics: Establish clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of GIS initiatives in enhancing field team effectiveness.
Technology Roadmap: Design a technology plan encompassing software and hardware updates, system upgrades, and new technology adoption to future-proof GIS support for field operations.
Data Governance: Establish and enforce data standards for quality control, consistency, and accuracy across geospatial datasets.
Data Acquisition and Creation: Source, manage, and maintain relevant geospatial data (maps, aerial imagery, survey data, demographic data, etc.) using internal and external sources.
Database Design and Management: Ensure the optimal design and performance of GIS databases to efficiently store, retrieve, and analyze spatial data.
Cloud and Server Administration: Manage spatial data in cloud environments or on-premise servers, ensuring security, availability, and scalability.
Custom Application Development: Develop and maintain customized GIS applications and tools tailored to field team workflows, enhancing efficiency and decision-making.
Map and Dashboard Creation: Generate informative maps and interactive dashboards to visualize field data, track performance, and support field operations.
Routing and Location Analysis: Provide routing guidance, optimize travel times, and analyze spatial patterns for site selection or field resource deployment.
Mobile GIS Solutions: Implement user-friendly mobile apps for field data collection, navigation, asset inventory, and real-time updates.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with field teams, management, IT personnel, and external clients to gather requirements and communicate GIS benefits.
Team Building and Supervision: Manage and mentor GIS staff, including analysts, technicians, and specialists, and foster a culture of innovation.
User Training and Support: Provide ongoing training and technical support to field teams and other users to maximize their fluency in GIS tools and their ability to leverage GIS benefits.
Project Planning and Execution: Design project plans, timelines, and deliverables. Manage GIS-related projects from initiation to completion.
Vendor Relations: Build relationships with GIS software, hardware, and data suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing procurement processes.

Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of experience in a GIS leadership role, preferably in a client-services or field operations environment.
Demonstrated expertise in Esri ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, etc.)
Proven ability to develop custom GIS applications and tools.
Strong understanding of spatial data management principles, databases, and cloud-based GIS solutions.
Excellent project management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to communicate complex GIS concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
