Responsibilities
Assembly and submission of interconnection requests and modifications in support of new and evolving development opportunities
Review and comment on studies in a timely manner
Negotiation of interconnection agreements
Fulfillment of interconnection agreement milestones
Management of consultants to provide additional resources and expertise as needed including critical review and alignment of consulting efforts with internal engineering focus and direction
Case-by-case responsibilities also include project specific budget and security posting management and advocacy in support of of the interconnection function
Due diligence reporting for acquisition candidates
Support of project sale and financing requirements
Support of the transition from development through execution to operations
Support of proposals to offtakers
Management or coordination, as needed, of acquisition of transmission rights and congestion mitigation within and across RTOs for advanced queue positions in support of project financial analysis and attendant risk management
Review of IRPs and anticipated transmission system upgrades in support of greenfield site selection and advancement is required along with support of monthly or quarterly project and / or department reporting to document alignment with and progressing key performance indicators
Being a team player is a 'must'
The Interconnection Director’s primary customer is the project development team to provide timely and cost-effective interconnection and technical solutions to fulfill market requirements for PV and BESS projects along with support of responses to requests for proposals and bi-lateral offtake agreement proposals and arrangements to enable multiple offtake agreements through shared facility agreements and, other duties assigned by Management.

Required
Minimum of 5 years of professional large generator interconnection related experience
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in power with 10 - 15 years of experience or in large scale renewable generation (50 MW or larger)
Demonstrated history of consistently sourcing and advancing projects through various stages of development to start of construction
Strong cross-functional fluency in interconnection tariff procedures and requirements and electrical engineering
Strong communication and people skills contributing to a strong team player approach and individual initiative is required: the candidate should be a hands-on creative problem solver
Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task while aligning priorities with team focus and communication is required
Confidence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization
Microsoft office suite proficiency required
Preferred
Transmission planning a plus
Project finance, contracts, utility interconnection, construction, and operations experience a plus
Advanced technical knowledge (e.g., familiarity with renewable technologies, power markets, legislation, regulatory issues)
