Responsibilities
Oversee VTAM and TCP/IP subsystems in a z/OS 2.4 and JES2 environment.
Install, upgrade, and maintain IBM and third-party software using SMP/E.
Implement and validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
Review new system features and recommend upgrades to optimize performance.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, including training on software management systems and tools.
Act as a liaison between developers, operations teams, and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
Lead disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring best practices are followed.
Develop and maintain software-related technical documentation and security policies.
Offer 24/7 on-call software support as needed.

Required
20+ years of experience in mainframe software management, with expertise in VTAM and TCP/IP subsystems.
Advanced knowledge of SMP/E, JCL, and z/OS utilities.
Expertise in disaster recovery strategies, including DASD/VTS mirroring and networking.
Strong programming skills in Assembler, REXX, and CLIST.
Proficiency with tools such as TSO, ISPF, SDSF, and experience with RACF for digital certificate management.
In-depth understanding of IP routing, VIPA, and hyper-sockets.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Outstanding communication and mentoring abilities.
Familiarity with z/OS UNIX and third-party tools like CL Super Session, TN3270, and Enterprise Extender.
Preferred
Experience with DB2, CICS, and JES2.
Strong understanding of DR contracts and SLAs.
