Responsibilities

Oversees the development and execution of the R&D strategy in alignment with enterprise strategy and Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) and core KPIs.
Leads a team of scientists, researchers, and product developers to drive innovation pipeline aligned with 5-year strategic priorities, and near-term objectives.
Collaborates with senior leadership and cross functional partners to identify new product opportunities and set research priorities.
Ensures proper integration among enterprise OKRs, R&D strategy plans, OKRs and KPIs to ensure delivery of innovation that meets enterprise priorities and for effective cross-functional collaboration and synergies across the teams.
Manages the R&D budget and resources effectively, ensuring optimal return on investment.
Oversees the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization.
Leads formulation of efficacious products that deliver desired health benefits and meet quality and consumer safety standards.
Partners with the General Counsel to ensure effective intellectual property protection for product and ingredient innovation, as appropriate.
Ensures new products align with regulatory requirements and company's ingredient guidelines for dietary supplements.
Collaborates with Marketing, Sales, Regulatory and Quality to evolve the product pipeline and innovation strategy.
Drives initiatives to improve product clinical value, quality, operational efficiency, and customer (practitioner and patient) satisfaction.
Monitors and analyzes new product performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Fosters a culture of scientific rigor and evidence-based practices within the R&D department.
Partners with the Chief Medical Officer to establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and research partners in the integrative medicine field.
Develops partnerships with novel ingredient suppliers and other potential innovation partners to build a strong pipeline of front-end innovation for the brand based on scientific rigor and nutritional supplement clinical application and regulatory clearance.
Oversees the design and execution of clinical trials to validate product claims and efficacy.
Ensures all product claims are scientifically substantiated and compliant with regulations.
Stay abreast of the latest scientific research, industry trends, and emerging technologies in nutrition, dietary supplements and functional diagnostics.
Works closely with Senior Vice President of Quality & Regulatory Affairs to develop and maintain rigorous quality control processes.
Collaborates with Senior Vice President of Quality & Regulatory Affairs to navigate complex regulatory landscapes across markets globally.
Ensures all products meet or exceed regulatory requirements for dietary supplements.
Stays abreast of evolving regulations in the supplement industry, functional diagnostics and integrative medicine field.
Builds and leads a world-class R&D team, including scientists, formulators, and clinical researchers.
Mentors and develops team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning and improvement.
Collaborates cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing product improvement.
Focuses on people and talent development and retention through effective recruitment, on-boarding, coaching, and training.
Gives constructive, timely, and appropriate feedback to team members.

Required

Advanced degree such as Ph.D., M.D., DO or ND in a relevant field such as nutrition science, biology, chemistry, integrative Medicine.
15+ years of R&D experience in the dietary supplement or nutraceutical industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Deep understanding of integrative medicine principles and practices.
Proven track record of successful product development and commercialization in the dietary supplement industry.
Strong knowledge of FDA regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) for dietary supplements.
Experience in designing and overseeing clinical research programs.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts to various audiences.
Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and improving human health through natural approaches.
Strong analytical, critical, and strategic thinking skills.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; presents ideas clearly and convincingly to gain commitment.
