Responsibilities
Set the overarching design vision and strategy for Exemplifi, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth goals and commitment to government-focused projects.
Lead cross-functional collaboration with UX, Content, and Design teams to deliver innovative, user-centered digital experiences.
Advocate for a "design-first" approach in every aspect of the company’s work, from pitches to final deliverables.
Oversee creative direction for all design deliverables, ensuring quality, consistency, and accessibility standards are met (e.g., AA Accessibility for government clients).
Lead brainstorming, concept development, and review sessions with design teams to ensure work meets creative and strategic goals.
Champion the adoption of cutting-edge design tools, workflows, and methodologies to keep the team’s skills sharp and future-focused.
Manage, mentor, and inspire a growing design team, including UX, Content, and Creative Design leads.
Identify and recruit top design talent, ensuring the team is equipped to meet the needs of our growing client base.
Build a culture of feedback, continuous learning, and design excellence.
Act as a key member of pitch teams, presenting design concepts, strategy, and creative vision to potential clients.
Work closely with the Sales and Business Development teams to win new contracts and maintain strong client relationships.
Participate in high-profile client meetings to articulate design vision, present work, and ensure alignment with client expectations.
Create and refine design workflows, ensuring efficient and scalable processes that enable rapid delivery without sacrificing quality.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Delivery Leads to ensure smooth handoffs, clear expectations, and timely execution of client deliverables.
Oversee and continuously improve Exemplifi’s Style Guide for Design, Front-End, Image, and Video Specs to maintain design consistency.

Required
10+ years of experience in design leadership roles, such as Head of Design, Creative Director, VP of Design, or equivalent senior creative roles.
Proven track record of leading design teams for government, public sector, or large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects.
Expertise in UX, UI, and Content Design with a solid foundation in responsive design and accessibility (WCAG) standards.
Strong command of design tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and prototyping tools.
Demonstrated experience pitching and winning large-scale client engagements.
Ability to build and lead high-performing design teams that operate across multiple time zones.
A portfolio that showcases experience with large, complex websites, government contracts, or public sector design projects.
Preferred
Experience scaling design teams from 50 to 100 employees or similar growth initiatives.
Knowledge of Umbraco, WordPress, and other CMS platforms used in government websites.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and design sprints.
Passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
