Responsibilities

Administer and maintain SQL Server databases hosted on cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).

Monitor database performance and ensure high availability and reliability.

Implement and oversee database backup and recovery solutions.

Deploy and manage database services in cloud environments, including setup, scaling, and monitoring.

Collaborate with cloud architects to design and optimize database solutions for scalability and performance.

Perform database tuning, query optimization, and index management.

Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues to maintain system efficiency.

Ensure data security by implementing encryption, access controls, and auditing policies.

Support compliance with data protection regulations and internal security standards.

Work closely with development teams to optimize schema design, stored procedures, and queries.

Provide technical support for database-related issues and incidents.

Develop and maintain scripts for database maintenance and monitoring tasks.

Automate routine database operations to improve efficiency.

Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and performance metrics.

Provide regular reports on database performance and capacity planning.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on SQL Server and cloud environments

Proficiency in managing and optimizing databases in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL)

Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, and partitioning strategies

Hands-on experience with database performance tuning and optimization

Knowledge of data security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation

Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database, or equivalent

Required Security clearance

Preferred

Experience with NoSQL databases and big data technologies (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop)

Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

Federal Experience is a plus
