Responsibilities

Developing and implementing long/short term geospatial program goals, objectives, and standards demonstrating an advanced understanding of natural resources, geographic, hydrologic, ecosystem or biological sciences.
Managing data lifecycle of datasets and applications, and recommending development of geospatial analysis processes, protocols, and solutions.
Facilitating group planning and execution of collaborative goals.
Utilizing oral and written communication skills to engage with diverse groups and individuals, advising and promoting GIS goals and objectives.
Performing geospatial model design and analysis to support resource management decisions.

Required

This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series listed below.
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience, or additional education.
For the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level.
Specialized experience is defined as 4 or more of the following: Developing and implementing long/short term geospatial program goals, objectives, and standards demonstrating an advanced understanding of natural resources, geographic, hydrologic, ecosystem or biological sciences.
Managing data lifecycle of datasets and applications, and recommending development of geospatial analysis processes, protocols, and solutions.
Facilitating group planning and execution of collaborative goals.
Utilizing oral and written communication skills to engage with diverse groups and individuals, advising and promoting GIS goals and objectives.
Performing geospatial model design and analysis to support resource management decisions.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.
