Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing, approving and overseeing multi state & provincial sales tax filings, sales tax exemptions, personal property tax filings, and other state or local tax related filings and returns.
Maintain and build reconciliation of tax accounts in the general ledger against liabilities from filed tax returns.
Perform tax research along with special projects throughout the year.
Manage and or support financial and tax related audits.
Maintain tax regulatory compliance through reviewing and recommending processes improvements.
Support and oversee business license applications and renewals.
Act as a point of contact for operations and other departments to answer tax-related questions and resolve issues that may arise.
Ad hoc analysis and support to Corporate Controller, Director of Finance, CFO and operating Presidents and VPs.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
CPA certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required for this position.
5+ years’ experience with state tax matters
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and complete work on time.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Able to analyze data and present analysis in a concise manner.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal across all levels of the organization.
Excellent ability to communicate technical information to colleagues in a clear and understandable manner.
“Roll up the sleeves” attitude, and the ability to review, manage, and/or do the work as needed.
High degree of critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
Experience working with ERP systems.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to drive change and process improvements.
Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
Preferred
Experience working with Avalara
Experience with provincial sales tax
