Responsibilities

Applies professional concepts, department / unit and campus / medical center / OP policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization.

Analyzes complex issues.

Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.

Provides analysis, configuration, and testing of the UC San Diego core Student Information System.

Activities include maintenance, production support, and configuration and integration enhancements of the student application and processes.

Collaborates with business owners, team members, and technical project managers to document, translate, validate, and communicate business and functional requirements throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

Plays a key role in process design and implementation of key Student Systems including major ERP implementations such as core Student Information System, Financial Aid System, and Curriculum Management.

Plays a significant role in ongoing process design, requirements gathering, and consultation in any future implementation into the Student Information Services ecosystem.

Includes activities in the maintenance, enhancement, and transformation of SIS applications and processes.

Required

Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.

Demonstrated experience with analysis of processes and issues, information flow and architecture.

Advanced analytical skills to identify, analyze, and organize processing requirements, documentation, and data.

Demonstrated knowledge of data processing principles, practices, terminology, and their application in an enterprise environment.

Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation.

Basic knowledge of secure software development.

Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.

Including support and system administration for third party/vended applications.

Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.

Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software.

Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.

Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis.

Demonstrated experience with database administration.

Working knowledge of database management systems and standards.

Knowledge relating to database system design.

Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.

Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software.

Demonstrated skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software and networks.

Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.

Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

Experience with environment & release management as it relates to configuration of vended platforms.

Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions.

Experience in data integration and the specification of data services.

Ability to understand and model complex knowledge-intensive processes.

Works independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.

Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
