Responsibilities
Assisting in developing culturally relevant science lessons for K-12 students
Designing and executing science outreach activities and presentations throughout the community (specifically among those that are under-resourced)
Assisting with coordination of K-14 STEM conferences, events, and programs
Writing blogs on programs and other events/activities hosted by STEM Success Initiative
Fulfilling any other ancillary duties as required
Assisting the CREATE Director in the development of the curriculum for the LISTEN Lab research project
Facilitating LISTEN Lab curriculum at participating schools
Performing administrative duties
Independently managing the day-to-day operation of the center's project needs
Interacting with large research/project teams
Developing and implementing procedures
Assisting with professional development and outreach, meetings, and special events
Supervising undergraduate student workers, high-school student interns, and volunteers by providing work direction

Required
Demonstrated outreach concepts and content management experience in print format and web-based medium: developed materials, handouts, and visual presentations; translated and interpreted technical content and information into layman's terminology for various audiences.
Experience with events management and ability to effectively communicate with all constituents: students, staff, community, school partners, etc. Proven skills in handling logistics from various special events, including workshops, seminars, conferences, and outreach.
Demonstrated advanced experience using computer software, hardware, and database systems, such as Google Suite, MS Office suite, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendar to compose, edit, and finalize correspondence, ensuring proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation; create and update spreadsheets, and maintain databases.
Extensive experience providing high-level administrative support: scheduling meetings, calendaring, arranging complex travel, processing travel advances and reimbursements needs.
Proven organizational ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities and to ensure deadlines are met. Proven organizational skills to prioritize or plan day-to-day tasks to meet established goals within that context, recognize problems, conflicts, or impact on others, research options, present alternatives, implement solutions, and follow through to ensure objectives are met.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to interact professionally and courteously with diverse personalities, including non-native English speakers, within and outside the University, using tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, self-motivate, and independently follow tasks through to completion.
Strong demonstrated ability to work independently and harmoniously as part of a team with frequent interruptions and to meet established deadlines; ability to identify issues needing referral to supervisor.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and good judgment in handling sensitive matters with individuals and groups via phone or email.
Ability to identify issues of importance to CAO and Directors, ability to prioritize information and identify areas needing further explanation or discussion. Ability to identify potentially difficult situations for discussion with CAO and Directors.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and non-federal agency requirements and regulations for sponsored agencies.
Ability to work with customers to define project requirements and to collaborate during development and testing.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school teachers, trainers, and community contacts.
Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of UCSD policies and procedures governing travel, entertainment, and reimbursement.
Basic knowledge of the Oracle Financials Cloud (OFC) system to run several financial reports and reconcile expenditures.
Knowledge of Privacy Policy concept and policies relating to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, a United States federal law.
Some experience in a STEM-based area of study is preferred.
