Responsibilities

Assists the Supervisor, Specialists, and/or Subject Matter Expert, with the quality assurance review of HR Assistants work products.
Keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
Spot check work in progress and review completed work to see that supervisor's instruction on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines.
Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work, and maintain records of work accomplishment and time spent to prepare production reports as requested.
Recommend distribution and balance of the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
Provide information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignment, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.
Provides on-the-job training to new employees, in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Responsible for recommending, developing, writing and editing standard operating procedures for Human Resources Assistant procedures.

Required

You must be a US Citizen or US National.
Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
Direct Deposit: Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
All USDA employees are required to be enrolled in Continuous Vetting, which authorizes government agencies to receive notifications of criminal activity on individuals who hold low risk, public trust, or national security positions.
Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Processes a full range of personnel actions for positions that involve one or more pay schedules or unique pay considerations; e.g., General Schedule and Federal Wage System, and foreign pay plans.
Assists team members with complex personnel action corrections that require research of historical data, human resource regulations, and internal procedures and guidance. Determine actions required to accurately complete such corrections and complete, or oversee, the proper completion of corrections.
Provides training and instruction to team members, structuring training requirements according to the trainee's needs and learning preferences. Develops and updates internal training plans, tools, and resources.
Provides high-quality advice and support to customers to accurately resolve a wide range of issues. Continuously works to anticipate customer needs and improve human resources products and processes.
Assists team members with their problems, keeping supervisor informed of sensitive issues or concerns that may impact the customer and/or team.
