Responsibilities
Lead the estimating team in preparing accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop a comprehensive understanding of the scope of work.
Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
Analyze historical data and industry trends to refine estimating practices and improve accuracy.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless handoff of awarded projects.
Identify risks and opportunities in bids and propose strategies to address them.
Oversee the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring they are complete, professional, and submitted on time.
Stay up-to-date with market conditions, industry standards, and emerging construction technologies.

Required
Proven experience as an estimator, with at least 8-10 years in the heavy civil construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment, particularly in highways, bridges, earthworks, and utilities.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to mentor and develop a team.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
