Responsibilities

Work to grow and support cloud efforts

Uses learned knowledge to create new infrastructure and environments

Provides senior level expertise to the team

Administratively operate and maintain Linux based servers and Oracle WebLogic Java Application servers installed on Azure Linux Virtual machines in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

Evaluate, implement & oversee operating system’s & application servers’: updates, patches and upgrade processes and strategies.

Assists in the design, implementation and maintenance of complex solutions

Coordinates activities with other technical teams and personnel as appropriate

Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds and recommendations to maximize system performance

Maintains all server-side cloud and Security documentation to ensure compliance with the government's cyber security policy

Develops strategies to manage the frequency of installations of the support package releases and patch

Monitors cloud infrastructure and cloud VM system maintenance and provides technical recommendations for enhancement

Research current systems technologies and serve as subject matter expert on cloud integration processes and procedures

Provides technical know-how to internal and external personnel on highly complex cloud system administration and installation processes

Shares knowledge and provides guidance to less experienced personnel

Coordinates with stakeholders to formulate complex technical solutions

Informs stakeholders of appropriate developments in technical support products

Responsible for creating and maintaining the baseline VM images

Provides immediate response to break-fix of Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud VM assets

Required

5+ years of experience

Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience

In-depth knowledge of Linux based operating systems and services from the command line.

Experience in supporting centralized management and automation systems using Ansible playbooks and ad-hoc commands.

Oracle Weblogic Java Application administration experience or IBM’s WebSphere.

Supports the rapid improvement of reliability and consistent performance of IT Infrastructure by capturing the as-is state and prioritizing opportunities to improve

Familiarity with industry best practices for Linux server security; ability to implement organizational security standards on the Linux platform

Experience with automated software update mechanisms such as yum, up2date and apt-get

In-depth system administration experience and knowledge, including operating systems, hardware and networking

Thorough understanding and workings of incident handling protocols, personally identifiable information, Server network procedures and information handling

Thorough understanding and workings of cloud Server models: IaaS, PaaS, DaaS, SaaS

Experience with Cloud applications Azure

Experience migrating existing applications to cloud

Good consultative, communication, analytical and judgement skills

Experience with implementing and maintaining highly available mission critical environments, disaster recovery testing and creating technical documentation

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy; and time management and organizational skills
