Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage data pipelines for integrating data from diverse sources into the organization’s data platform.
Ensure pipelines are scalable, high-performing, and compliant with data governance and security standards.
Maintain pipeline reliability and accessibility to meet evolving organizational and operational requirements.
Collaborate with business intelligence developers and stakeholders to ensure pipelines meet current and future needs.
Develop and maintain logical and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, and internal/customer deliverables.
Optimize data storage and query performance for large datasets using the Microsoft Fabric platform and tools.
Create data structures that enhance operational and reporting efficiency across various business functions.
Ensure data models are adaptable to meet dynamic business needs.
Implement data validation, error handling, and reconciliation processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
Contribute to the organization’s data governance framework, aligning with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Develop processes for continuous monitoring and improvement of data quality.
Establish documentation and auditing standards to ensure compliance and traceability.
Stay updated on advancements in cloud-based data engineering tools, especially within the Microsoft Fabric and Azure ecosystems.
Identify and implement innovations to enhance data engineering workflows and organizational data capabilities.
Evaluate new technologies for their potential to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Share insights on emerging trends to ensure Hummingbird remains at the forefront of data engineering practices.
Partner with cross-functional teams to design data models and warehouse solutions tailored to business outcomes.
Support stakeholders by providing scalable and efficient solutions for analytics and reporting.
Lead troubleshooting and issue resolution, ensuring adherence to SLAs and change control processes.
Document processes, changes, and tasks to support system integrity and knowledge sharing.

Required
2+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role, with a focus on building and optimizing data pipelines and data warehouses.
5+ years of IT experience focused on data manipulation, querying, and modeling; data pipelining and automation processes; database architecture; data warehouse design and performance; and/or cloud platforms and big data.
Proficiency in cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent tools.
Advanced knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data governance frameworks.
Strong SQL and data querying skills, with the ability to optimize storage and query performance for large datasets.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable data solutions.
Experience working with Epic EMR data model (e.g. Cogito, Clarity, etc.)
Preferred
Experience working in environments with strict regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA compliance.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse or similar modern data platforms.
Experience building data pipelines using APIs, XML, flat files, etc.
Knowledge of advanced analytics tools and frameworks to support AI and machine learning initiatives.
Experience developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
