Responsibilities
Manage the preparation, review and timely completion of the Company’s monthly external financial statements. Establish timetable and responsibilities, including identifying tasks and resources.
Prepare financial statements, footnotes, MD&A analysis and other disclosures in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements, including researching and implementing new disclosures when required.
Perform monthly closing activities such as review of consolidated income statement and balance sheet variance analysis, account reconciliations and accounting entries, and completion of other analyses.
Oversee accounting for areas such as foreign currency, goodwill, debt, pensions, warranties, etc. Coordinate valuation of such items as appropriate.
Support the preparation and filing of the Company’s proxy statement and other current reports (8-K) as needed.
Review all relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires to ensure appropriateness and completeness of disclosures.
Work closely with the CAO, senior management, external auditors, outside advisors and other functional areas within the Company to ensure accuracy and completeness of SEC filings.
Provide technical accounting guidance, as needed, related to certain transactions to ensure conformity with U.S. GAAP and established company policies and procedures.
Oversee the preparation and review of technical white papers, in various subject matter areas including restructuring, accounting for debt issuance costs, accounting for capitalized labor related to internally developed software projects, etc.
Oversee the updating and review of the Company’s Accounting Policy Manual, including developing a project timeline, identifying preparers and reviewers of specific policies, communicating and training on completed policies, etc.
Ensure processes are supported by an appropriate internal control environment and related execution of controls and supporting documentation.
Serve as key consultant to both financial managers AND internal audit in ensuring key controls are appropriately designed and identified to address significant risks.
For any control deficiencies identified, ensure understanding of facts and circumstances is appropriately documented, and that an appropriate management response is tailored.
Oversee the consolidated process of ensuring the Company’s auditors timely receive requested audit documentation, including reviewing client assistance requests, following up with financial managers on past due items, etc.

Required
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Accounting required
CPA certification required
Public accountant experience required
Minimum of 7 years of work experience
Understanding of and experience with the interpretation and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the Sarbanes Oxley Act
Positive and solution-orientated attitude and approach
Excellent analytical and communication skills (oral and written) required
Preferred
Experience in a multi-division company environment and in a public company setting a plus
