Responsibilities
Provides leadership, advice, guidance and direction, and makes significant contributions to the quality and responsiveness of the Directorate in all matters related to the Directorate products and services.
Provides direction for solving the extremely complex technical problems associated with the testing and evaluation of DISA
Renders advice and technical on operational problems arising throughout the directorate. Confers with personnel from DISA, Joint Staff, OSD, and other federal
Represents PEO-Transport speaking as the authority on technical matters related to sustaining and optimizing the DISN infrastructure issues and programs.
Identifies need for testing, evaluations and certifications across joint and allied lines for all identified interoperability/net-readiness requirements
Directly responsible operation of the PEO-Transport efforts in support of DISA, with responsibilities including the interoperability test panels and steering groups, joint test and evaluation, strategic communications, and technical support.
As senior technical authority, provides direction, guidance and oversight of all information systems network reporting.

This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
This is a Drug Testing Position.
Must be able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
Acquisition certification in the Engineering and Technical Management Functional Area at the Practitioner Functional Tier within 60 months of entry into this position, in accordance with DoD Instruction 5000.66 required.
For the GG-0854 Computer Engineer or GG-0855 Electronics Engineer: A. Degree: Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration Written Test Specified academic courses Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties.
For the GG-1550 Computer Scientist: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
To qualify at the GG-15, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.
Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: sustaining and optimizing the DISN infrastructure issues and programs. Identifies need for testing, evaluations and certifications across joint and allied lines for all identified interoperability/net-readiness requirements and requirements for the capital investment plan to improve testing efficiencies and provide test bed upgrades.

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-15 grade level.
