Responsibilities
Support sales organization in the design of fire alarm systems, voice evacuation systems and mass notification systems Designs range from simple fire sprinkler monitoring systems to mass notification systems that include multiple network panels on corporate or college campuses.
Meet and discuss requirements and options with the prospect as well as internal stakeholders.
Demonstrate an understanding of their business and their technology requirements.
Review formal bid specifications.
Assist with value engineering to provide good/better/best alternatives.
Leverage expertise to act as consultant for prospect, evaluating products and processes and recommending improvements to enhance their fire alarm system/voice evac system.
Outline any required supportive infrastructure to support the solution including networking, cabling, conduit, terminations, head end and distributive equipment.
Draw from experience and knowledge to determine if existing customer fire alarm system can be used as part of the new fire alarm system.
Work with sales and operational teams to define and assure understanding with job scope.
Provide an assessment of any known technical risks with the proposed fire alarm system.
Ensure that all project specifications are documented in the proposed fire alarm system including any compliance requirements associated with the system. Designs should be based on national standard and industry best practice.
Provide estimated parts lists to be used for budgetary proposals.
Develop detailed parts lists for final proposals.
Prepare any necessary documents that maybe required including drawings when needed for permits.
Assist Operational teams in estimating workload.
Provide technical guidance and support, including customer training when required.
Assist Product team in providing engineering evaluation of new products and solutions being considered.

Required
Experience in the design and engineering of Fire Alarm systems.
5 years of relevant recent experience in Fire design.
Proficient in AutoCAD 2022, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Broad knowledge of fire alarm, fire sprinkler, access control, & archiving, command/control display technologies and general security system principles and practices.
Good knowledge of infrastructure and related technologies such as power, UPS, networking and communications.
Experience in the design and implementation of large scale fire alarm systems in a commercial environment.
Ability to read and understand floor plans, mechanical plans, structural plans, and Life safety plans as well as basic code analysis and design of Fire alarm, Access, and other security systems.
Adept and skilled at interacting directly with prospects and sales reps.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
NICET II - NICET III in Fire Alarm preferred.
