Responsibilities
Leads the coordination for the design, implementation, modification, and maintenance of the IHS Adverse Events Reporting Program, in conjunction with subject matter experts from IHS Area Offices and Service Units in varied and appropriate professional disciplines.
Leads the coordinated periodic review and updating of IHS Adverse Events Reporting policy, in coordination with subject matter experts from IHS Area Offices and Service Units.
Serves as the IHS Headquarters Subject matter expert on Adverse Events Reporting functions as it pertains to Medical Staff (MS) processes and accreditation standards, regulations and laws, and as a consultant on MS accreditation programs.
Advises the Division Director about clinical regulatory issues regarding Adverse Events Reporting.
Leads the coordination with the IHS Headquarters Risk Manager in support of Adverse Events Reporting and actions.
Develops and coordinates policy development and decision-making processes of importance to the Adverse Events Reporting Program. Generates reports and analyzes results (also for externally produced audits) for quality assurance, compliance, and performance against standard process guidance and policy for Adverse Events Reporting activities.
Monitors accreditation and certification requirements pertaining to Adverse Events Reporting and communicates pending/new standards to the Deputy Director for Quality Health Care to ensure policy and procedure remain consistent with evolving standards.
Monitors and reports on Adverse Events and actions taken to mitigate risk. Advises in the development of short, mid and long-term range plans and programs in support of the IHS Adverse Events Reporting Program.
Supports the IHS Quality Program through integration of Adverse Events Reporting processes with other components of the Program.

U.S. Citizenship is required
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position
At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service
Experience managing IHS Event Reporting software
Experience developing and implementing quality improvement frameworks and strategies to support improvement related to event reporting in the IHS ISTAR system
Experience managing patient safety programs, including sentinel event investigations, root cause analysis, and clinical risk management related to ISTAR event reporting
Experience coordinating quality improvement activities and assessing health system performance using standardized metrics
Experience developing policies, protocols, and programs to improve healthcare delivery outcomes, patient satisfaction, and risk management
