Responsibilities
This position will own the following main functions:
New Business Sales (60%): Drive the full sales cycle, closing new accounts and expanding existing relationships across Public School Districts, Charter Schools, Charter Management Organizations (CMOs), and Local Government accounts. Manage mid-market and larger enterprise deals, developing tailored strategies to win complex sales opportunities. Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities, leveraging demand generation efforts and personal outreach to build a strong pipeline.
Account Management (30%): Oversee renewals for existing accounts (excluding Federal Government), working collaboratively with the Client Services team to ensure a seamless renewal process and maximize retention rates. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, ensuring satisfaction and identifying upsell opportunities.
Other Strategic Initiatives (10%): Partner closely with the Marketing team on demand generation activities, including following up on leads and attending industry conferences (approximately 10-15 per year). Contribute to refining and executing Avela’s go-to-market (GTM) strategy as the business evolves. Participate in outbound prospecting efforts, including executing on targeted outreach sequences.

Required
A minimum of five (5) years of sales experience, including at least two (2) years closing mid-market or enterprise-level deals in EdTech or similar public sector markets.
Proven success meeting or exceeding quota in a sales role, with experience managing a complex sales cycle.
Proficiency in using CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) and managing sales operations, including funnel metrics and KPIs.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Entrepreneurial spirit and drive; Extraordinary comfort with ambiguity.
US resident, living within 45 minutes of a major metropolitan airport.
Legal ability to work in the US without Visa sponsorship.
Preferred
SAAS Startups - Experience at early stage, high growth enterprise SAAS startups focused on T2D3.
Experience as a K-12 Teacher/Educator or School/District Administrator is preferred. Passion is required.
