Responsibilities
Assess the needs of the organization and build:
A strong finance team from the ground up that can support the entire organization, starting with a Controller
Scalable financial infrastructure and processes that enables an organization to stay lean while still being both precise and accurate in its financial reporting
Rigorous controls that balance competing values that live naturally in healthy tension at the high-trust environment of a start-up: clear, bright-line rules that are administratively scalable as well as a high degree of autonomy enabling nimble decision-making by people of different levels, all without increasing bureaucracy
Build a high performing accounting organization:
Manage internal and / or external accounting resources for efficient and speedy month-end closes
Consistently maintain audit-ready books and controls to ensure smooth annual external audits
Manage Reserv's bank accounts and custodial accounts necessary for effective, compliant, and tax-advantaged cash management
Set, achieve, and manage ambitious service-levels / internal KPIs for serving the organization's finance needs:
Quick month-end book closes, which have implications for shorter receivables cycles
Timely, daily or near-daily reimbursement approvals for employees
Vendor bills approved in a timely and responsible way
Work closely with cash-consuming functions (e.g., payroll, recruiting, or cross-functional market-entry projects, among others) to stay aligned on cash needs and ensure adequate cash levels at all times
Develop and monitor key financial KPIs that are early and live indicators of Reserv's health, e.g., free cash flow, contribution margins, cash runway. Collaborate with functional and cross-functional leaders to build directionally accurate forecasting of the company's financials
Formal and informal regular reporting and updates to executive team, cross-functional leaders, and other finance adjacent leaders:
Actionable communication: clearly communicate Finance's forecasting and current understanding around key financial metric and facilitating other leaders' understanding of the implications for their operations and forward planning
Constant communication: aligning early and often with the right expectation setting around confidence levels in Finance's findings.

Required
Big 4 accounting firm training, experience, and exposure to different clients and processes
Controller or senior accountant of a start-up or mid-sized business
Leadership experience of overall finance organization and/or overall accounting organization
Experience hiring and managing a team that can perform all functions of finance, including accounting and financial modeling
Experience at a top-tier VC-backed startup within the last 10 years
Experience helping that startup to a successful exit (IPO, PE, strategic) or even just secondary tenders
Experience from TPAs with strong experience in treasury management, complex revenue recognition and multi-national operations
In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance, and other regulatory matters across the US, UK, and EU
An 'owner-operator' mindset or a 'servant-leader' mindset
A high-tempo leader who understands that both speed and quality are complimentary and two-sides of the same coin
