Responsibilities

Act as Interpreter between students, parents, and school staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English and Spanish at Special Education meetings
Interpret with no additions or omissions following technical information, legally mandated educational requirements and Special Education terminology.
Maintain de integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district
Handle three-way Hotline interpretations between school staff and parents while maintaining daily phone activity logs
Must be available to work evening, Saturday, and short notice meetings.
Render clear and exact translations of written materials following guidelines.
All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
Pursue continued development of skills and knowledge.
Be an actively contributing team member and support the District mission.
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required

Demonstrate strong written and oral language skills in Spanish and English including proofreading with keen attention to detail.
Strong organization, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to learn the use of FM transmitters/receivers (interpretation equipment)
Must have reliable transportation.
Exemplary attendance
Exemplary interpersonal and customer service skills to work with a diverse group of individuals.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree preferred; Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. Equivalency), plus 60-college hour.
Two years of experience as translator/interpreter with knowledge of ARD/FIE procedures in a school setting, preferred
Experience with use of google docs, Word, PDFs.
