Responsibilities

Design, develop, code, test, and debug new and existing software applications and installed hardware.

Develop and deploy cloud services.

Install IT systems using university technology standards.

Administer systems, including performing maintenance and system upgrades.

Ensure ensuring IT security protocols are followed.

Develop enhancements to existing IT systems and improve the functionality and compatibility of existing applications using engineering releases and utilities.

Customize IT systems and maintaining program libraries and technical manuals.

Optimize hardware through software benchmarking.

Provide direction and support to less experienced IT engineers to increase their understanding of software development practices and procedures.

Test software applications and develop automated tests.

Review and analyze test results, witness tests, and certify software for production.

Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Required

Master’s in Computer Science or a related field and 1 year (or Bachelor’s and 5 progressive years) of software development experience

Spring boot and microservices with RESTful services implementation

designing and developing apps using Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

translating application storyboards into functional applications into java-based applications

Experience using best practices when writing code, committing code, and maintaining code quality, organization, and automation

working with Oracle and SQL server databases for storing data

Spring Framework

messaging systems including Kafka

using application monitoring tools including New Relic

cloud-native paradigms and technologies including AWS and containers Code deployment/Code Integrate (CI/CD)

building Secure applications

maintaining source code/components and modifying/upgrading code

performing code reviews and pair programming sessions
