Responsibilities

Collaborates with the team to develop and deliver key backend functionalities and scalable backend and data processing solutions aligned with the product roadmap.

Works closely with product managers, engineering leads, and QA to ensure backend services and data workflows meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.

Follows established best practices in backend development and data engineering, including adhering to coding standards, participating in peer reviews, and implementing scalable design patterns.

Provides regular updates within a cross-functional team, identifies technical challenges or potential blockers, and works collaboratively to resolve them.

Contributes technical expertise to support teammates and enhances the team’s collective knowledge base.

Optimizes and maintains data pipelines for backend development workflows, including integrating system observability, logging, and monitoring

Proactively identifies bottlenecks in data processing or backend systems, proposing and implementing actionable improvements.

Debugs and troubleshoots errors in backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines across development and production environments.

Required

4+ years of hands-on development experience within an Agile team, contributing to backend systems and data engineering and for SaaS products.

Strong Proficiency in backend development using Java, and Spring Boot

Proficiency in SQL, and strong understanding of data modeling and optimization techniques.

Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and integrating warehouse data into access patterns suitable for SaaS applications.

Expertise in working with databases, both relational (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, or similar)

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and containerization technologies like Docker.

Proficiency in Agile development practices, including Scrum, version control systems (e.g., Git), peer code reviews, and adhering to DRY principles.

Demonstrated enthusiasm for staying current with modern technologies, frameworks, and best practices in backend development and data engineering.

Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance, including database tuning and pipeline efficiency.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams.

A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience in the tech industry.

Preferred

Familiarity with building automated quality tests and monitors and experience with data orchestrators such as airflow or prefect a plus.
