Responsibilities

Directs, coordinates, oversees, and manages the planning, development, implementation, validation, operation, and maintenance of all automated information technology services and activities.
Identifies and proposes solutions to management problems which are of major importance to planning program direction.
Formulates long-range policies and develops and implements strategies and performance management guidelines for complex and changing information technology systems.
Plans and manages Department-wide IT projects involving the examination and potential utilization of emerging IT theories, concepts, practices, and equipment.

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of a Top Secret background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Subject to one year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable.
New Forest Service supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.
This position is remote eligible. You will be required to sign a remote work agreement and be responsible for ensuring the approved remote worksite has adequate internet service, connectivity, and other general utility costs at your own expense.
This is a drug testing designated position. You will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Appointment is based on a negative result.
Selectee is subject to financial disclosure requirements and must submit form OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level.
Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Experience directing, coordinating, overseeing, and managing the planning, development, implementation, validation, operation, and maintenance of automated information technology (IT) services and activities; and/or leading configuration management, information technology architecture, infrastructure design, and systems integration aspects into IT project plans; and/or leading the implementation of quality assurance processes and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies, standards, and technical procedures; and/or formulating long-range policies, strategies, and performance management guidelines for complex and changing information technology systems.
Information Technology (IT) related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
