Responsibilities

Analyze project/customer needs and independently develop a production-editorial plan appropriate for each title, leveraging existing production workflows to meet desired dates.
Adapt production-editorial processes for new technology developments and assist the department in achieving digital goals. Utilize various digital production tools to execute tasks, report bugs/issues, and coordinate work between team members.
Analyze and evaluate text manuscripts and art programs to determine content needs (such as art rendering and copyediting requirements) and design requirements. Gather project-specific information from content and manufacturing teams, to properly set up projects with vendors and coordinate all needed services. Compile detailed cost estimates for such services, and streamline services and costs when possible.
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to create schedules; monitor schedules and make revisions as circumstances require (either directly for actively managed titles or via supervision of vendor project managers).
Supervise the work of vendor project managers for full-service projects, to ensure that proper workflows and specifications are followed and that project management meets the highest standards.
Work with vendor partners to select editorial freelancers appropriate to each project, ensure that copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers follow style guidelines, and enforce exacting standards for freelancer work.
For actively managed projects, check all stages of proof and ePub, revisions, and final files to ensure quality standards are maintained.
Build a detailed profile of each title for vendor partner (workflow, required services, unique features and specs), and initiate and review cost estimates.
Work with vendor partners in both active-management and full-service capacities, depending on the unique circumstances for each project. Work with vendor to select, supervise, and evaluate copyeditors, proofreaders, indexers, and other freelancers; negotiate project-specific assignments based on evaluation of partner recommendations.
Track project status and scheduling. Coordinate work between team members, assigning tasks and managing handoffs.
Compile a detailed "living" record of project information for each title.
