Software Developer Intern: 2025
IBM is an IT technology and consulting firm providing computer hardware, software, infrastructure, and hosting services. They are seeking a Software Developer Intern for Summer 2025 who will engage in the software development lifecycle and contribute to creating high-quality software that meets client needs.

Responsibilities
Participate in many aspects of the software development lifecycle, such as design, code implementation, testing, and support
Create software that is of high quality and meets our clients' needs
Become a contributor within Open Source communities across multiple disciplines
Challenge the norm, investigate ideas outside of your role, and come up with creative solutions resulting in ground-breaking impact for the wider business, our external clients, & their customers
Qualification
Required
Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript
Experience with software development tools such as Git, IDEs (e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ), and version control systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Highly motivated and have a passion for creating and supporting great products
Thrive on collaboration, working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines, and you have very strong verbal and written communication skills
Great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing, and implementing solutions to complex technical issues
Have a basic understanding of software development and programming languages
Have the ability to learn new skills quickly and use the skills efficiently
Preferred
Experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) or mobile development (e.g., Android, iOS)
Exposure to cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure
Basic understanding of databases, including SQL and NoSQL databases
Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools such as JIRA or Trello
Any experience contributing to open-source projects is a plus
