Responsibilities
Teach an equivalent of 15 weighted teaching units (WTUs) each semester (i.e., a full-time position) to be fulfilled through teaching courses (most are 3 WTUs) and administrative/service duties
Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity– including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation–through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement
Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., in-person, synchronous, or hybrid)
Qualification
Required
MSc in computer science or a closely related field with minimum of two years of teaching experience
MSc in computer science or a closely related field with minimum of five years of professional experience including teaching; or Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field
MSc in computer science or a closely related field with minimum of nine-years of professional experience including teaching; or Ph.D. in computer or science or a closely related field with minimum of five years of professional experience including teaching
Strong commitment and demonstrate potential to teaching excellence, and a broad knowledge of computer science or data science
Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language
Ability to teach on the SJSU campus in late afternoon and evening hours as needed by the department
Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience
Preferred
Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field
Teaching experience at SJSU or similar institutes
